Frontlines: The Latest from OutServe-SLDN

1500 More Signatures

During Long Beach Pride on May 16&17, I volunteered at the SLDN booth for the first time. I also learned just how many people continue to be impacted by the DADT law.

The outpouring of support was tremendous. By the end of the weekend we added more than 1,500 signatures to SLDN's petition to Congress. It was amazing to be part of a movement that is working to ensure ALL qualified service members will have the freedom to serve so they can do the job they love, free from discrimination.

I heard stories from military folks who were discharged before and during DADT, from spouses of active military currently in Iraq or Afghanistan, and from patriots currently serving under the ban. Their testimonials were heart-wrenching, and illustrate why this archaic law must go.

As an Army veteran with service spanning from the 1st Gulf War to the current conflicts in Iraq & Afghanistan, what better way to give back to my fellow brothers and sisters in arms than to fight for their right to serve their country.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to help. There are thousands of people who stand with you to repeal DADT. The time is NOW.
