Honoring the Life of Matthew Moyers
Tuesday August 17, 2010, was a sad day for the SLDN family because we lost a dear friend. Matthew Moyers, the partner of Cook v. Gates plaintiff and former Petty Officer 3rd Class, U.S. Coast Guard, Justin Peacock, passed away from pancreatic cancer.
I met Matthew about six years ago at SLDN's National Dinner in Washington, D.C. Since then Matthew has been more than just a friend to all of the Cook v. Gates plaintiffs. He was the guy that made everyone laugh until your stomach hurts. He could always make us smile when we went through the roller coaster ride with the courts. I would like to say that I have a perfect memory to share, but there are so many.
Matthew was an amazing friend and an even better partner to Justin. He will be dearly missed, and we will always love him. Matthew David Moyers, rest in peace.

Thanks Tommy for this. It’s a great loss for our SLDN family, and especially Justin. Rest in Peace Matthew. It’s sad that he won’t be here with us to celebrate our long fight, but his support will never be forgotten.
