Frontlines: The Latest from OutServe-SLDN

Miss Our Call? You Can Still Get the Latest!

Repeal advocates from Hawaii to Pennsylvania participated in Monday afternoon’s “Moving Forward” National Call with Army veteran and Executive Director Aubrey Sarvis.

This forum provided an opportunity for us to answer questions around the certification process, anticipated timeline for education and training among the various service branches, why SLDN called on the President to issue an executive order, and how “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) repeal impacts life for service members. We also discussed the numerous challenges facing LGBT military families, discharged veterans, and transgender military service in a post-repeal environment.

SLDN’s work is far from complete. Every day we provide legal assistance to those impacted by “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT), which is still the law. We will continue to push for full LGBT equality in the armed forces through litigation and congressional action where appropriate, and remain on the forefront as the first line of defense for LGBT veterans and families.
