SLDN Commemorates Dr. Waverly Cole, Friend and Ally
This week the SLDN family honors the life of Dr. Waverly Cole, who passed away Friday. Waverly and his partner John Cook have been generous, dedicated supporters of SLDN since 1993. During SLDN's National Dinner in 2008, in fact, Tipper Gore invited these gentlemen to the stage to recognize their 50th anniversary together.
As an Army veteran, Waverly remained steadfast in his commitment to ensuring that all qualified patriots have the freedom to serve. We will greatly miss this tireless advocate of equality.
SLDN mourns the passing of Waverly, and our thoughts and prayers are with John during this difficult time. Our community has lost a wonderful friend and a true champion of justice.

Dr Cole will be missed. It is still hard to believe he is gone. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Dr Cole and Dr Cook were no less than blessed, as was I. No one could mix a drink, tell a joke or play Wheel of Forture like Waverly. He was one of a kind.
