SLDN Joins Creating Change This Weekend

On Saturday, SLDN will host a workshop (“The Path Forward on ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Repeal”) at this year’s Creating Change conference in Minneapolis, MN. An annual, nationwide conference organized by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), Creating Change attracts more than 2,000 LGBT advocates from around the world. Attendees participate in workshops, trainings, caucuses and daylong institutes. The conference provides a unique forum for folks to connect and more effectively work together to achieve full equality for the LGBT community.

Our interactive workshop will outline what’s next in the repeal fight, including steps the Pentagon is taking to move toward certification and implementation of open service, what might happen during the 60-day period following certification, and what SLDN is advocating prior to certification and what we will fight for once full repeal is in effect. Participants will break into groups and lead discussions on how grassroots advocacy can help in ensuring equality and creating positive change for LGBT Americans.

We are proud to be part of the national conversation on LGBT equality in all areas of life, and hope to see many of you in Minneapolis to help move the discussion forward.
