SLDN Week in Review: January 23 - 27, 2012

Praise for President Obama's State of the Union Address. On Tuesday, President Obama delivered his third State of the Union address. Air Force Col. Ginger Wallace, an out lesbian, was seated with the First Lady, and the President paid tribute to gay and lesbian service members in his remarks. For SLDN's news release about Col. SLDN Launches Twentieth Anniversary T-Shirt Contest. On Wednesday, SLDN launched a nationwide contest to design our Twentieth Anniversary t-shirt. Continuing Coverage of SLDN's Federal Lawsuit. Last weekend, SLDN plaintiffs, CAPT Steve Hill and husband Joshua Snyder, were in Denver to attend yellow ribbon events. While there, they were able to sit down with local media to tell their story, as well as talk specifically about SLDN's federal court challenge to the Denfense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and three federal statutes that prevent equal benefits for all service members.
