SLDN Week in Review: January 9-13, 2012

Editor's Note: Today, we launch a new feature, the SLDN Week in Review. This will be a summary of important events and news stories, designed to give you the highlights from the week all in one place.

SLDN Launches Online Toolkit for LGBT Veterans. On Thursday, SLDN launched a new, online toolkit for LGBT veterans discharged under DADT or the prior regulator ban seeking to change or upgrade their discharge paperwork. Oklahoma Legislator Tries to Reinstate DADT. This week saw the introduction of a bill in the Oklahoma State Legislature that would re-instate DADT for the Oklahoma National Guard. This got a substantial amount of attention in the local Oklahoma press and some limited attention in the national press. SLDN Federal Lawsuit Continues to Draw Media Attention. SLDN's legal challenge on behalf of married gay and lesbian service members continues to draw attention in the local and national media. This week, the Morris Daily Herald profiled plaintiffs, Dan & Gary Ross. See the clip here.

SLDN on the Road. SLDN Development Director David Hall traveled to Chicago over the weekend to participate in a panel discussion on LGBT issues at the American Historical Association National Conference. See the story here.

OutServe Supports SLDN Plaintiff, CW2 Charlie Morgan, As She Battles Cancer. Our friends at OutServe recently learned of CW2 Morgan's wish to go to Hawaii as part of her "bucket list," and they have started a fundraising drive to help her make her dream come true.
