“This Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the extraordinary contributions of all transgender Americans, including those who have served and continue to serve with dignity and courage in every branch of the armed forces,” said Aubrey Sarvis, Army veteran and Servicemembers Legal Defense Network Executive Director. “This special day provides a unique opportunity to not only recognize the achievements of our transgender friends and colleagues, family members, neighbors and co-workers, but to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination faced by transgender Americans every day. We stand in solidarity with our coalition partners as we renew our resolve in the fight for full LGBT equality under the law.”
