Write Your Senators
Take a stand for all our service members. Write your senators and tell them to support equality in the 2012 national defense bill when they meet to take action on it this fall.
Some details to remember when you write:
--Please use a respectful tone
--Please name your Senators so that their offices track it
--Please add your personal story - including if you served - to your letter
Talking points for your letter:
- Oppose any effort to reinstate or otherwise interfere with "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) repeal.
- Do not follow the House of Representatives, which used the defense bill to micromanage defense personnel policies and facilities usage, infringe on service members' religious liberties, and expand DOMA.
- Gay and lesbian service members should not be treated as second-class citizens.
- Identify yourself as a veteran or military spouse/partner/dependent, if applicable.
Tell your friends on Facebook and Twitter to write senators too!
