Kulsoom Naqvi
Staff Attorney
Kulsoom Naqvi joined SLDN in 2011 and currently serves as the organization’s Staff Attorney.
Kulsoom graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science and English from Northwestern University. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Liberty. During law school, she interned at Lutheran Social Services of New York, CAIR-Chicago, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and Human Rights Foundation. Kulsoom also participated in NYU's Immigrants Rights Clinic, where she represented a foreign national in removal proceedings who feared persecution in his country of birth because of his sexuality. While at Northwestern, she interned for Representative Jan Schakowsky and for the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization. Prior to joining SLDN, she interned for the Open Society Justice Initiative, where she researched racial profiling issues in the context of the European Union. Kulsoom is a member of the Illinois State Bar.
