Katie Miller
Washington, DC
Katie Miller spent the first half of her undergraduate education at the U.S. Military Academy, where she was ranked 9th in her class out of over 1,100 cadets. However, Miller struggled to square her integrity with the half-truths required under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and in August 2010, she announced her resignation from the academy on national television, citing the policy. She immediately joined the OutServe board of directors and served has a spokesperson for major media interviews, such as The Rachel Maddow Show, the New York Times, Anderson Cooper 360, Hardball with Chris Matthews, ESPN, Associated Press, NPR and BBC. She escorted Lady Gaga to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in a public demonstration for DADT repeal. A graduate of Yale, she is employed at the Center for American Progress.
