Out Celebrity Reichen Lehmkuhl Introduces FLY NAKED with Reichen Collection from LoveandPride.com
NEW YORK, NY, May 21, 2007 - Reichen Lehmkuhl, the out actor/model/author/activist and pilot today introduced the FLY NAKED with Reichen Collection from LoveandPride.com. This sleek titanium jewelry collection for men arrives just in time for Pride 2007.
Best known as a million-dollar winner of CBSs The Amazing Race, Lehmkuhl recently authored a book, Here's What We'll Say, about his experiences as a gay cadet in the U.S. Air Force Academy. The striking design concept for FLY NAKED is inspired by his love of aviation. Designs take off from such flying motifs as wings and propellers with jewelry crafted from sleek titanium: the same material used to build aircraft because of its light weight and tremendous strength.
The FLY NAKED with Reichen Collection includes rings, bracelets, pendants, key rings, cuff links and money clips ranging in price from $99 to $495. The collection is available exclusively at LoveandPride.com, the premier jewelry and lifestyle address for the gay and lesbian community."My grandmother actually served as a pilot in World War II. Her heroism inspired me to fly, and eventually graduate from the Air Force Academy to become an officer in our U.S. Air Force. Rather than continuing to serve in silence, secret, and in fear of a court-martial under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," I accepted an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Captain, after 9 years of service; a tough but necessary personal decision," Reichen said.
To support an end to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and help lift the ban on gays in the military, Reichen and LoveandPride.com are donating 10% of every FLY NAKED Collection purchase to the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN).
"Servicemembers Legal Defense Network is proud to be the beneficiary of this exciting new line from Reichen and LoveandPride,"
said Steve Ralls, SLDN's director of communications. "Every FLY NAKED
purchase helps SLDN in our mission to end discrimination in our armed
forces. Our supporters now have a unique opportunity to support SLDN's
work through this partnership. As this new collection vividly reminds
us, bravery and patriotism know no sexual orientation."
Love and Pride was created by celebrated designer Udi Behr, a longtime civil rights advocate and friend of Reichen. "One day I was visiting Reichen in LA and noticed the words 'FLY NAKED' on his license plate," said Behr, a former soldier in the Israeli army, which allows gays and lesbians to serve openly. "I immediately thought 'what a perfect name for this collection!' Fly Naked is about being sexy, of course, but it's also about being brave and bold and true to yourself. That's what Reichen is and that's what this collection is really all about."
