OutServe Magazine Names New Editor-in-Chief

OutServe Magazine Names New Editor-in-Chief
Leger steps into leadership role as publication grows to support LGBT military community

(Washington, DC) OutServe-SLDN, the publisher of OutServe Magazine, announced today that Angelina Leger, an award winning multimedia artist with more than fifteen years of experience, has been named editor-in-chief of the publication, now in its third year of production. Previously, Leger served as operations and graphics director for the magazine, which is available bi-monthly in print and digital versions and focuses on news, advocacy, human interest, and travel for LGBT service members, as well as their families and supporters.

“I am excited to make this move as we look to expand the content and reach of OutServe Magazine,” said Leger. “OutServe Magazine is a one-of-its-kind publication and is an important part of our overall efforts as a community to raise the profile of LGBT service members and their shared experiences in the post Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell era.”

“Angelina has been with the magazine since its inception and really has been a driving force behind its professionalism and success. Leger’s background includes strategic visioning, communications, marketing, advertising, 3D animation, motion graphics, graphic design, art direction, web design, video production and editing. Graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, 3D Animation, Leger was honored with Best of Class Abstract & Experimental Animation, Red Stick International Animation Festival Award; Gold ADDY® Elements of Advertising in Animation, Acadiana Advertising Federation; and Kepler Award, Special Judges Choice Award, Animation of Typography, Acadiana Advertising Federation, for her undergraduate senior thesis in experimental abstract animation. She has also collaborated with teams that have produced work honored by Millennium Awards, MarCom Awards Service Industry Advertising Awards, Summit Marketing Achievement Awards, Southern Public Relations Federation Lantern Awards, Davey Award, American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Award, and Planetizen Top 10 Web Sites Award. Recently, she served as a graphics specialist contractor for DHS and FEMA and a freelance multimedia artist for clients across the U.S.
