Servicemembers Legal Defense Network Launches Dynamic New Website
Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), a national legal aid and policy organization dedicated to repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” ban on lesbian, gay and bisexual service members unveiled a newly remodeled website today, at www.sldn.org. The site, which allows visitors to correspond with Congress, service members to receive vital legal aid information and grassroots activists to spearhead repeal efforts in their communities, also highlights the stories and images of service personnel impacted by the law.
“Today, the internet plays a vital role in grassroots organizing and advocacy, and our new site was designed to bring our supporters together and rally our troops to help repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’” SLDN director of communications Steve Ralls said in a message to supporters. “The new site still has important legal aid information for service members and information about the law. We also still have the latest news and information about the military’s ban and SLDN’s work, and you’ll still find useful information on upcoming events and activities in your area. Just as importantly, however, SLDN supporters will now be able to harness the power of the internet to communicate with Members of Congress, write letters to the editor of newspapers across the country, help raise funds to support SLDN’s work and play an integral role in our work.”
More than 20,000 veterans, activists and other
supporters have already enrolled in the organization’s online advocacy
center. The SLDN.org site also features breaking news regarding “Don’t
Ask, Don’t Tell,” profiles of veterans impacted by the law and tools
and information for advocating for repeal.
The organization’s new
site is made possible by the generous support of Mediapolis, Inc., and
was designed by Audrey Denson. The site also features award-winning
photography by Judy G. Rolfe.
