SLDN Announces New Communications Staff

WASHINGTON, DC - Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) announced the addition of two new communications associates today, increasing the organizations media and outreach and education staff. Victor Maldonado and Jason Knight both joined the SLDN communications team this summer.Victor and Jason bring a wealth of military, political and media experience to SLDNs communications department, said Steve Ralls, the organizations director of communications. As Dont Ask, Dont Tell again moves to the forefront of the American political conversation, both Victor and Jason will be invaluable in making sure that SLDN continues to have an important voice in the public discourse. We are enormously excited to have them onboard.

Maldonado, who will focus on media relations, messaging and publications, previously worked with the Office of Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He is a graduate from the University of Michigan with B.A in Political Science and a B.A. in History.

Knight, who will manage SLDNs speakers bureau, the organizations website and blog, and other outreach & education campaigns, is a former Petty Officer Second Class and a linguist who recently completed his second tour of duty in the United States Navy. Knight has spoken widely about Dont Ask, Dont Tell, and the campaign for repeal, including in Stars & Stripes, The Navy Times and on Good Morning America.
