SLDN YouTube Video Showcases Veterans, Calls for Repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

WASHINGTON, DC - A documentary by Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) showcases ten veterans and family members sharing their experiences under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." law banning lesbian, gay and bisexual service members. Individuals featured include SLDN Honorary Board Member MCPOCG Vince Patton, USCG (Ret.), who served as a research analyst on the President's Task Force on the Study of Gays in the Military in 1993; Patricia and Wally Kutteles, the parents of murdered PFC Barry Winchell; and Alastair Gamble, a former Arabic linguist discharged under the gay ban.

"These ten individuals join a growing chorus of military voices calling for an end to the discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law," says C. Dixon Osburn, SLDN's executive director. "This documentary shows the impact of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" not only on the 11,000 lesbian, gay, and bisexual service members discharged under the ban since 1993, but for all Americans. Let us thank these patriotic Americans for their selfless service, not fire them. It is time to lift the ban."

The video, a creation of Jonathan Baker, LesIsMore Productions and SLDN board member Tom Carpenter, is available online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQDP0_Y3UmU and at www.sldn.org.
