The Military Readiness Enhancement Act -- which would repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and put in place a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of sexual orientation -- has been introduced in the Senate. Key members of the Senate Armed Services Committee -- including Chairman Carl Levin (D-MI) and lead sponsor Joe Lieberman (I-CT) -- and other strong advocates have come together to stand up for repeal. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Colin Powell, Former Vice President and Former Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, President Obama, and an overwhelming majority of the American people are on board with open service as well. It’s clear that the movement to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is gaining momentum every day. The time for repeal is now.
