Anna M. Curren is a non-military, naturalized U.S citizen, and a proud Newfoundlander, whose creativity and enterprise in the field of Nursing Education over the past 40 years has enriched almost every School of Nursing in the United States and Canada. Currently semi-retired, Anna still authors two textbooks for nursing and health technology, adding yearly to the over one million total copies of her texts sold.
Anna has served on SLDN’s Governing Board for almost ten years, and has made repeal of the military’s ban on open service for GLBT individuals a major focus of her life. In 2010, SLDN instituted The Anna M. Curren Service Award to both honor Anna for her service, and to honor others for outstanding service to our organization in subsequent years.
