Ben Brooks

Ben Brooks joined SLDN’s board in March 2010.

Ben Brooks is Vice President & Practice Leader of Human Capital Performance at Marsh Inc., the world’s leading insurance broker and risk advisor. In this role Ben is responsible for the firm’s overall people strategy, talent management programs, employee engagement, social media strategy, and the recently created Marsh University for its 24,000 colleagues globally.

Prior to working at Marsh, Ben served MMC (Marsh’s corporate parent company) as head of Talent Management. Prior to MMC he was a management consultant at Oliver Wyman (a sister company to Marsh), with a primary industry focus in commercial aviation, and lean six sigma capability focus. While at Oliver Wyman Brooks co-founded GLOW (Gays and Lesbians at Oliver Wyman), the firm’s global Employee Resource Group (ERG) for LGBT colleagues and their straight allies. Ben served as chairperson of the group, Oliver Wyman’s first ERG.

Previously Ben worked for Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions division in various roles including Supply Chain Management, Small Business Outreach, New Business Development and Operations Excellence. During his time at Lockheed Martin, Ben had the opportunity to work with various retired or reservist military personnel, which allowed him to develop a deep and personal appreciation for the service and sacrifice of those in our armed forces. Ben joined SLDN’s board as he is committed to transforming the culture of the DoD to enable safe and open service for all.

Ben is originally from Colorado and holds a BSBA from the University of Denver with a focus on Marketing and Leadership Studies.

He currently resides in Manhattan.
