Jose Zuniga

SGT Joe Zuniga served in the US Army from 1989-1993, including in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the 1st Cavalry Division, where he earned the Combat Medical Badge and numerous other distinctions. He was named 6th US Army Soldier of the Year in 1992 at the Presidio of San Francisco, and came out on national television at the 1993 March on Washington to provide President Bill Clinton with further ammunition to dispel notions gay and lesbian service members could/should not honorably serve in the US military. Zuniga has written and spoken extensively about DADT, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN). Currently, he is President of the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC).
