CDR Paula E. Ridenour, USN (Ret.)
Paula was born in Kendallville, Indiana. At 18, she joined the U.S. Navy serving more than thirty-one years on active duty, retiring in 1999 while serving as the Strike/fighter Type Wing Aircraft Maintenance Officer at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
Her sea duty and overseas assignments included Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 4 (HS-4), Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 8 (HS-8), Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three (HAL-3) at the Binh Thuy Naval Base in South Vietnam, Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One Hundred Seventeen (VAW-117); Fighter Squadron one (VF-1), and the Carrier Air Wing Two staff on board the USS Constellation.
Her shore assignments included Attack Squadron One Two Two (VA-122), NAS Lemoore Search and Rescue Aircrew, Naval Air Maintenance Training Detachment 1025 at NAS Miramar, Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department, Naval Air Station Kingsville. Texas, Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific, Commander Fighter Wing Pacific and Commander, Strike/Fighter Wing Pacific.
Her personal military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (2 bronze stars), Enlisted Aircrew Wings, and numerous unit commendations and campaign awards.
Since retirement from naval service, Paula has worked in education and the aerospace industry, including many years with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. She currently lives with her wife in Palmdale, California.
