COL Thomas F. Field, USAR (Ret.)

SLDN Council - Thomas FieldCOL Thomas F. Field retired from the United States Army Reserve after 32 years of service. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1954, after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. COL Field was also educated at the University of Oxford in England, where he received first class honors in economics; Harvard Law School, where he received his juris doctor, and the Georgetown University Law Center, where he received a Master of Laws degree in taxation.

In his civilian career, he was a trial attorney in the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice, and an attorney-advisor in the Office of Tax Legislative Counsel in the United States Department of the Treasury. After leaving Treasury, he founded Tax Analysts, a nonprofit publisher, and served as its executive director for 35 years, retiring in 2005. He is currently adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center and at the American University Washington College of Law.
