Aaron Tax
Legal Director
Aaron Tax joined SLDN in 2006 and currently serves as SLDN's Legal Director.
Prior to joining SLDN, Aaron spent three years working for the Department of the Army. During that time, he spent two years as a Presidential Management Fellow. During his Fellowship, he served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where he tried more than 25 cases, including stranger-on-stranger assaults, theft, unlawful entry (jury trial), drug possession and distribution, and violations of the Bail Reform Act; represented the government at hearings, including pleas, sentencings, and probation revocations; and taught “John School.” He also practiced labor law with the U.S. Army V Corps, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Heidelberg, Germany. During his final year with the Army, Aaron wrote Final Agency Decisions in employment discrimination cases.
Aaron earned his B.S. in Policy Analysis, with Honors and Distinction, from Cornell University in 1998. He earned his J.D., with Honors, from The George Washington University Law School in 2003. He is licensed in New York. While at Cornell, Aaron served as President of the Cornell Democrats, interned for Senator Edward M. Kennedy, the White House, and at the Democratic National Committee. During law school, Aaron interned at the Federal Trade Commission and with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. Prior to law school, Aaron spent two years as a legal assistant with the law firm of Arnold & Porter.
