Susan LaBombard

Grants Manager and Copywriter

Susan LaBombard, a native Missourian, joined Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) in 2007. She currently serves as Grants Manager and Copywriter in the Development Department.

Susan has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. Her career has centered on creative problem solving, strategic planning and implementation, writing and editing, advocacy, relationship-building, and fundraising.

Prior to joining SLDN, Susan was a grant writing consultant for the United Nations Foundation. For nearly 11 years, she was the federal government affairs manager for Ameren Corporation, a Fortune 500 company.

Early in her career, Susan worked for Senator Christopher S. Bond (R-MO) as operations director for two Senate campaigns and as an aide in his Capitol Hill office. She also headed the annual fund and alumni relations office for Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri. She earned her BA in English at Fontbonne and resides in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia with her partner of 17 years.
